Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus command His disciples to “GO.” Or rather Jesus told His disciples to make disciples, and baptize, and teach people about Jesus “AS YOU GO.” God’s people have been called to be light in darkness, to meet people where they are, and to preach the good news to the poor and to those in prison. We can’t do this if we aren’t going. God’s people are on the move. God’s people “GO” across the street and around the world!

In addition to “GOING”, Jesus commanded His people to make disciples. A “disciple” is one who is growing and changing to look  more like Jesus every day, and who disciples another. Though Jesus often taught the crowds, He focused His time and attention to disciple a dozen men.

Discipleship is a lifelong process for the believer and not a destination we arrive at. Discipleship is measured in our love for God and in the fruit we bear for Him.

Jesus modeled discipleship and has shown us how to have the greatest impact on the generations to come. By following Jesus’ example, we can impact future generations for God’s glory in the world.

We serve God because we love Him. By serving those created by God, we show His love and live a life of worship to Him. Service without love is a wonderful thing to do, but it’s simply doing a good thing. It’s when we serve others out of love for them (because they were created by God) that we worship God with all our heart, mind, and soul.
